The Job

Taking direction from the VP Operations, the Jira Administrator, meeting all the requirements of this position, is responsible to contribute Atlassian expertise on client projects. Primary activities will include:

  • Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade on-prem Atlassian products
  • Configure both on-prem and Cloud based Atlassian products
  • Provide support, troubleshooting, and application configuration for the Atlassian products
  • Participate in customer Atlassian Projects with a focus on migrations (platform migrations, Server to Cloud, Cloud to Cloud, migrations from other tools to Atlassian, etc.)

The Jira Administrator will be responsible for the development of solutions that satisfy our client’s business needs. The Jira Administrator is expected to take on small to medium sized projects or work on larger projects as part of a team effort.

This position will have a progression of responsibilities based on the incumbent’s progression of demonstrated expertise as well as the attainment of minimum and additional certifications for our Systems Integration software partners (primarily Atlassian but others as well). The VP Operations will determine the match between the capabilities of the consultant against the requirements of the solution for each project.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attainment of a minimum of two technical Atlassian certifications as well as the associated Accreditations.
  • Perform Atlassian administration tasks (installation, configuration, regular maintenance, upgrades).
  • Perform Server to Cloud migrations
  • Configure Jira, Confluence, BitBucket per customer requirements
  • Estimate time allocations to tasks and contribute to the develop Statements of Work (SoWs) for services.
  • Define and clarify project objectives, technologies, and specifications.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop the project plan and routinely update progress with Project Managers.
  • Lead the delivery of contracted projects in accordance with client approved SoWs and project charters.
  • Plan for and lead the development of standards and procedures to be used to deliver the Atlassian services (i.e. templates for requirements, templates for configuration, environments for hosting services, etc.)
  • Resolve client issues as they arise.
  • Participate in meetings with the Avant team as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Working knowledge of the Atlassian suite of products is a key requirement of the position.
  • A university degree in the computer or business administration sciences, or a related discipline, preferably with a focus (major) in Information Technology.
  • Complete familiarity with the Information Technology industry, and a working knowledge of software development, computer infrastructures, and project management methodologies.
  • Experienced team player with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to liaison with clients, colleagues, management, and senior leaders.
  • Adaptable and flexible: able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable, responsible, and motivated with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Organized and resourceful.

  • Excellent use of desktop and laptop computers and office productivity software such as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to articulate thoughts and express oneself succinctly in face-to-face and written communications.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication strengths in peer relationships and external alliances and partnerships with clients and with other “complementary” companies to jointly pursue resourcing opportunities and corporate awareness.

Experience

  • 5 – 8 years of industry experience with focus on Atlassian products.
  • Experience in providing IT consulting services to clients would be an asset.
