The Job:

We are seeking an energetic and motivated Systems Administrator with an entrepreneurial mindset to join our team at Avant. The candidate must love to work in a fast-paced, client facing environment and be passionate about creativity and learning new technology. The candidate will be responsible for contributing expertise in the following areas:

  • Work with our Managed Hosting and Managed Services customers in order to support, upgrade and migrate their Atlassian applications (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.) and infrastructure.
  • Participate in customer Atlassian Projects with a focus on: migrations (platform migrations; Server Cloud, migrations from other tools to Atlassian, etc.)
  • application version upgrades
  • application mergers (Jira + Jira)


As part of a small cross functional team, the candidate will play a key role in the end to end design, implementation, and delivery of solutions that satisfy our client’s business needs.

This position will have a progression of responsibilities based on demonstrated expertise.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Customer facing experience and ability to directly support at tier 1, 2 & 3 technical support levels.
  • Experiencing working with Java applications desired.
  • Previous experience with Atlassian products (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo) would be an asset.
  • Experience supporting and maintaining Windows and Linux servers.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware, Proxmox, etc. Understanding of creating and integrating public cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, OVH, etc.
  • Experience working with relational databases including MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, and/or Oracle.
  • Experience working with various forms of user authentication, Two/Multi Factor Authentication (2FA/MFA) and Single Sign-On (SSO).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Adaptable, flexible, and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable, responsible and motivated. Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience working on requirements and specifications, estimates, and technical documentation


  • 1 – 3 years of experience as a systems administrator, systems support specialist, infrastructure specialist or similar
  • Experience in providing IT consulting services to clients would be an asset.
