The Challenge

We are seeking an energetic and motivated Agile Program Coach to join our team at Avant to help coach our customers in their Agile journeys. The candidate must love to work in a fast-paced, client facing environment and be passionate about creativity and learning new technology.

Core Responsibilities

As an Avant consultant, customer contracts will require that you perform any number of these responsibilities:

  • Understand and address business drivers for a transformation
  • Identify appropriate processes, strategies, organizational design for the customer’s needs
  • Guide and drive executives, managers, and teams to implement Agile development approaches
  • Successfully coach and mentor teams on the organizational value to drive implementation success and overall adoption of Agile framework
  • Identify other areas of expertise that need to be brought in to accomplish the client’s objective
  • Work to help all levels of the organization understand the benefits of working Agile
  • Train and coach Agile teams on Agile practices and techniques
  • Mentor and coach internal Agile champions
  • Assist with all team-related ceremonies
  • Ensure Agile metrics are being tracked, monitor them for indications of potential problems, and assist teams to implement solutions to those problems
  • Assist in resolving impediments that prevent Agile teams from completing sprint commitments
  • Assist in Agile Iteration and Release Planning
  • Facilitate team breakout sessions with an eye on process and related best practices


  • Experience executing Agile projects in large, complex environments
  • Knowledge and experience working with organizational and behavioral change methodologies
  • Ability to drive and influence behavioral and mindset change within an enterprise organizational structured environment
  • 3+ years Agile coaching experience with experienced and mature agile teams; huge plus if you have experience coaching organizations and teams that are experiencing change fatigue
  • 5+ years delivering Agile coaching utilizing a variety of methods including Scrum, Lean, LeSS, SAFe, XP, and Kanban; using co-located and offshore distributed delivery models
  • Have deep knowledge of Agile principles and practices and the ability to transfer that understanding at all levels of the organization
  • Senior Agile Leadership skills with an ability to lead by example and challenge command and control behaviors
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and communication, both written and spoken; solid executive presence, conflict resolution skills, facilitation skills, attention to quality and details, and a collaborative attitude
  • Works and collaborates well with other coaches and consultants
  • Able to take a pragmatic approach in coaching the teams with the ability to adapt based on the agile “readiness” of the team they are working with
  • Travel Requirement: Have willingness and ability to travel under normal circumstances
  • Fluency in English is a must and a solid ability to communicate in French is considered an asset

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Agile and/or Scaled Agile certifications
  • Proficiency with multiple Agile Lifecycle Management tools (e.g. Jira, Rally, VersionOne)
  • Knowledge of Portfolio Management Tools (e.g. Jira Align, Aha, Advanced Roadmaps for Jira) is considered an asset
  • Background as a software developer, tester, or business analyst a plus
  • Experience developing training materials and conducting training
