Business Challenge
As a resource management application specialist, AVANT had been looking for additional opportunities to diversify and apply the experience gained in other industries. The AVANT team had spent years of IT consulting to the hog industry in Manitoba with clients such as Elite Swine Inc., Landmark Feeds, and Maple Leaf Foods. In recent years, an opportunity arose at the Manitoba Pork Council (MPC), which allowed AVANT to fulfill that objective.
The issue of livestock traceability came to the forefront with the BSE scare in beef. The MPC wanted to get in front of the issue and hired AVANT to replace an older application and update their business process capabilities in managing the vital resource information of their producer members.
Technology Solution Overview
AVANT combined industry and IT expertise to develop the application which has come to be known as NOAH, a membership, registration, and tracking System. NOAH delivers exactly what MPC needs to assist their producer members to provide complete transparency. In 2005, the Alberta Pork Council also acquired NOAH from AVANT.
