Avant’s BILINK Usage Reporting Tool (BURT) is a system for monitoring triple play service quality provided by Motorola's Multi-Service Access Platform. It monitors Motorola BDT-BSAM/USAM links (BILINKs), providing early detection of bandwidth and service access problems. A set of browser-based interfaces simplify the identification of service issues and system administration tasks.

The system can be divided into the following functional areas:

• BILINK utilization polling
The SNMP Scheduler is responsible for periodically polling the BDT nodes, to obtain BILINK bandwidth usage data and detect recently commissioned or decommissioned BILINKs. Polling start times can be configured by the System Administrator.
• Alarm notification
Personnel configured to receive email alerts will be notified when the system detects BILINK alarm situations for any of the overall bandwidth components - High Speed Internet, Broadcast TV, Video On Demand and Download Carousel. Upon acknowledgement of an alarm, the system will filter the alarm and refrain from re-sending the email alert upon re-detection.
• Report analysis and alarm management
Operating personnel can be configured to receive auto-generated reports. At the end of every polling cycle, defined users will receive a BILINK utilization summary spreadsheet via email.

System users can generate the following reports, specified over a given time period:

• BILINK Summary Report - a detailed utilization spreadsheet for all BILINKs, ranked by utilization
• Top Ten BILINKs Report - a bandwidth utilization bar graph, outlining your top ten most utilized BILINKs, ranked by utilization
• BILINK Utilization Bar, Stacked Bar, Pie and Time Series Reports - detailed utilization reports for a specific BILINK, outlining Broadcast TV, Video On Demand, High Speed Internet and Download Carousel traffic.
• System administration

The Systems Administrator is provided a web-based interface for performing administrative tasks, required to support BURT:

• System Log - search, filter and view.
• System Parameters - view and modify.
• System Processes - view status and graceful shutdowns.
• Node Management - view, add nodes, delete nodes and edit node attributes.
• BILINK Group Management - view, add, delete and modify BILINK Groups.
• Alarm History - search, filter, view and manage active/deactivated alarms.
